Once Upon a Time…

Like most new technologies, Readeo came to being because of a problem and a simple, yet brilliant solution. After company founder and CEO Coby Neuenschwander moved to Chicago with his wife and son Oliver, they longed for a way to connect with family members back home. They tried video chatting, but found that Oliver lost interest quickly. Remembering how much Oliver treasured story time with his grandparents, Coby came up with the idea to combine award-winning children’s books with video chat and the idea for Readeo was born!

Readeo is a patent-pending product that holds children’s attention longer and is more rewarding to use with children than Skype. That’s because Readeo lets you and your loved ones flip through the pages of a virtual book while seeing and talking to one another on-screen—just like if you were in the same room. We call it BookChatting. And all you need to BookChat™ is a high-speed Internet connection, a Web cam and a love of books.

Our Library

We’re very selective about the books that make it on our site. That’s why we partner with some of the top children’s book publishers around, including Simon & Schuster, Chronicle Books, Blue Apple Books and Candlewick Press. Each book is handpicked by our Editor Jenny Brown, who has worked in children’s books for over 20 years. And, of course, every book on our site has to meet the approval of Oliver, our unofficial book critic and bedtime story superstar!

Who We Are

Basically, we’re a bunch of tech geeks and story fanatics who love our kids. And in today’s hyper-connected, always-on the-move world, we wanted to find ways to connect with the children we love wherever life, career and unavoidable meetings took us. We’re passionate about literacy, technology and finding ways to connect with family near and far. We developed Readeo for distant grandparents, deployed military members, divorced families, traveling parents and anyone with loved ones on the move. We work tirelessly to improve the Readeo experience by adding new books, enhancing our technology and learning from customer comments and suggestions.
