Obviously, here at Readeo we feel one of the most important things you can do is read with your kids. Not only does it allow you to spend quality time with your children, but you are teaching them a skill that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. But some have taken it even farther than that:
“The early years set the stage for later learning…the single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to children.”
-Becoming a Nation of Readers: The Report of the Commission on Reading
Sounds like a pretty big responsibility! Luckily there is no need to feel overwhelmed. The Children’s Reading Foundation suggests that with just 20 minutes of “lap time” per day, your child will receive the hundreds of hours necessary to read early and well.
